STEM News is a free news aggregation app that delivers STEM and technology news articles. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information our app accesses, how it is used, and your choices.
STEM News does not collect any personal information. We do not require account creation, login, or registration. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, or any other personally identifiable information. There are no analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs in the app.
The app stores the following data locally on your device only. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server:
The app makes network requests to our backend server to fetch news articles and generate simplified article explanations. These requests contain only article metadata (title, summary, category) and standard HTTP headers. No personal information or device identifiers are included in these requests.
If you choose to enable push notifications, the app will request your permission and register a device token with the Expo push notification service. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings. No personal information is associated with your notification token.
When you open a full news article, it loads in an in-app browser. The websites you visit through this browser may have their own privacy policies and may use cookies or other tracking technologies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those websites.
STEM News uses the following third-party services:
These services may process standard technical data (such as IP addresses) as part of normal network operations. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for details.
STEM News does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the app does not collect personal information from any user, no special provisions for children are necessary.
Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is minimal risk of data breach affecting your personal information. All locally stored preferences remain on your device and are protected by your device's security measures.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the app and the effective date will be updated accordingly.
